The 3 best juicer machines of 2023: Our review

The New York Post found the three best juicer machines that are the main squeeze.

All citrus jokes aside, a quality juicer is a no-brainer for your kitchen, especially if you enjoy the convenience it brings to making cold-pressed juices in the morning.

That’s why I decided to buy as many oranges as I could carry in my supermarket, try out three top models and get to making fresh, homemade orange juice.

Sure, you can go ahead and buy pre-bottled juices at your local market, but there’s something about making it from home that makes it a worthwhile, satisfying experience.

Much like your Vitamix blender (which we reviewed and love), these heavy-duty squeezers and presses are especially great for entertaining outside, now that the warmer weather is upon us (new patio furniture, we’re looking at you).

Ahead, find the best juicers we tested for squeezing up fruits, vegetables and all of your other refreshing ingredients. After our review, we highlighted other models — based on much research — to provide more options for you to look through.

How we tested

Best Juicers We Tested

First things first — I’ve never used a juicer before, which is why there was much to learn on my end before diving into using these top-of-the-line kitchen appliances. I tested each juicer at least three times to ensure consistency among each model. While testing, here are a few criteria I kept in mind from beginning to end:

  • Ease of assembly: Listen, if it takes more time to set up my juicer than it is to pour and drink the juice itself, we have a problem. From the moment I took the juicer out of its packaging, I took note of all of the steps and time spent before getting to juicing.
  • Efficacy: Juicers are renowned for their ability to provide fresh juice while separating pulp and whole ingredients you definitely don’t want to sip on. I took note of the motor’s speed, quickness of juicing and other elements during the process.
  • Ease of cleaning: The main reason people are hesitant to purchase juicers? They have to clean them afterward (and all the pulp). Spoiler alert: it’s not too bad, but I provide helpful cleaning notes for you to reference.

Our Top Picks, at a Glance

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer Machine
Amazon

Pros:

  • The easiest to set up and the quickest to produce juice (win-win!)
  • Fairly easy to store and maintain

Cons:

  • May be difficult, at times, to clean the interior of the unit
  • The machine can be quite noisy, though expected

Not only was the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juicer Machine the easiest to use, but it was also the quickest. As soon as I unboxed the model from its packaging, everything was more of less set up. All you have to do is plug in, use the tamper to push down on your whole produce, and watch it effectively divvy up the pulp from the liquid.

Because set up was so seamless, I had fresh orange juice in minutes. Keep in mind that it takes about three to four oranges to make a full, tall glass — but crushing down each orange wasn’t complicated in the slightest. Even better, this model is easy to clean, though reaching in crevices surrounding the interior strainer’s circular rim could have been more well-thought-out; perhaps including a small brush would have been better. However, you can use the backside of a spoon to really remove remaining peels and juices.

While the appliance itself is fairly large, it’s simple to store and doesn’t require any guesswork. If you’re a beginner to juicing machines, this is the model for you. Keep in mind, like your best blender, this machine’s engine is quite noisy — though not a dealbreaker because that’s somewhat expected.

Ninja NeverClog Cold Press Juicer
Amazon

Pros:

  • Chic design with personalized juicing features
  • Comes with a bowl to catch pulp and thoughtfully curated features throughout

Cons:

  • More difficult to set up than other models tested

When I first unboxed the Ninja NeverClog Cold Press Juicer, my first thought was, ‘wow, Ninja ain’t fooling around.’ Its best-in-class design was awarded a top spot in our guide (which, is no surprise; its Woodfire Outdoor Oven we reviewed impressed us just as much).

It’s a bit more expensive than most, but not upwards of $500 like other kitchen appliances you may have your eye on. The most extraordinary characteristic of this model, in particular, is its keen eye to every part of the juicing process — from its easy-to-use tamper to its included bowl to catch pulp. It even comes with two pulp function, its parts are dishwasher-safe and has an aesthetically pleasing look if displayed.

The only caveat to this juicer is that it’s setup time was longer than other juicers I tested, even when reading the easy-to-follow manual. Because parts come separately encased in its box, I had to put everything together — which made the juicing process far longer than I’d have liked. However, once you get past the learning curve, it’s an exceptional machine that’s modern, chic and perfect for a wedding registry add-on.

DASH Deluxe Compact Masticating Slow Juicer
Amazon

Pros:

  • Compact size doesn’t compromise efficacy
  • Comes with a pulp measuring cup and frozen attachment to make sorbets

Cons:

  • Not as ergonomic to tamper down whole vegetables — like the Vitamix Blender — but a wonderful juicer option for those who are making simple recipes

Is it just me, or is anyone else obsessed with DASH’s miniature waffle makers? For the retro-inspired touch and space-saving nature of its kitchen appliances, I had to test out the brand’s Deluxe Compact Masticating Slow Juicer.

This ergonomically designed juicer gives ‘small but mighty’ a whole new name, thanks to its pulp measuring cup (a nice touch) and frozen attachment (to make delicious sorbet in addition to your juices and smoothies!) It’s quite revolutionary, easy to clean and perfect for apartment-sized spaces to call your main squeeze.

If you’re on the hunt for a space-saving masticating juicer (the types of juicers that crushes juice out of ingredients at a slow speed), this one will generate plenty of yummy juice to enjoy, too.

Though you have to be careful with the size of the ingredients you tamper into the machine — for example, I wouldn’t recommend dropping in a full-sized carrot) — I found myself dicing up fruit into petite pieces when testing all juicer models. Does it take more time? Yes, but it helps ensure the longevity of your machine, so that’s not a deal-breaker.
