4 killed, 4 wounded after gunman wearing ballistic vest opens fire in Philadelphia shooting

Four people were fatally shot and another four were wounded when a gunman wearing a ballistic vest opened fire in Philadelphia Monday night, according to a report.  

The deadly gunfire rang out in the Kingsessing part of the city around 8:30 p.m. and a suspect was arrested following the bloodshed, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing authorities.

At least two juveniles were among the shooting victims, police said.

Their conditions were not immediately known.

Four of the victims were rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and another four victims reached the same hospital by private vehicle, the newspaper reported.

About ten minutes after the shooting began, police reported they arrested a man wearing a ballistic vest.

Authorities also reportedly recovered a rifle and handgun in a nearby alleyway.
